#MINECRAFT SERVER MODS INSTALL# #MINECRAFT SERVER MODS ZIP FILE# #MINECRAFT SERVER MODS MOD# #MINECRAFT SERVER MODS MODS# #MINECRAFT SERVER MODS MOD# Every mod should have such an info on their project site. #MINECRAFT SERVER MODS MODS# Some mods have different version for server and client, for example JourneyMap or ForgeEssentials, then you should have the corresponding ones on both sides, however those are normally optional on both sides. Clients will also be forced to use the config file you specify on your server. #MINECRAFT SERVER MODS INSTALL# If you install this mod on a server all clients will have to have Hardcore Darkness installed. For example HardcoreDarkness mod is optional on server, but if it is there, it is a must for joining clients: (those can even stop server from functioning if you try to put them there)īe aware that there are some mods that allow server-configuration for purely cosmetic/graphic mods, those have to go both on server and client, if you want to sync settings (respectively you want to force server settings to people playing on server). Optifine, minimaps, shaders, texture packs.mods that change the client's way of rendering, but don't add anything into game : typically only client.Typically functions similar to 'bukkit plugins', for example ForgeEssentials, or Morpheus (modifies only the number of people need sleeping to get a day), or DiscordChat etc.mods that add some server feature : typically only server.NEI/JEI needs to be also on server, if you want to have weather/time buttons working, etc. sever needs to know what you are holding and client needs to know it either, so it can show it for you.Any mod that adds any block, item or entity or mods that offer network communication : Both server & client.Rules for what mod has to be in client/server or both: The version of mod has to be same on server as in client, if they are on both sides. The problem with leaving is that you can only do it once and it reduces your influence.Clients need vast majority of mods the server has. It wouldn't be so bad, if it didn't suck. In case AndrewAmmerlaan's answer wasn't exhaustive enough and by 'graphical mods' you meant 'GUI for the server', here's a list of server GUI's on the Minecraft Wiki, see if any fit your needs. GPU: AMD RX 590 8GB & Intel UHD Graphics 630 This will prompt all clients to install said resourcepack automatically. In principle these are client side only, however you can set the property 'resource-pack' in your servers config file to the direct link of a certain resourcepack. #MINECRAFT SERVER MODS ZIP FILE# If by 'graphical mods' you mean shaders These are client side only, the installation procedure is simple: install forge, drop the 'optifine' mod in the 'mods' directory and drop the shaders you want to use in the 'shaderpacks' directory.Īnd if by 'graphical mods' you meant texturepacks/resourcepacks No need to install any mod loader for that, just drop the zip file in the 'resourcepacks' folder of the client. However, as far as I know, Forge and Bukkit do *not* combine, so it's either mods or plugins but not both. These plugins are server side only, so no need to edit the client. Note that some minecraft mods require specific minecraft versions to work, in this case you might want to downgrade client and server to match the mods recommended minecraft version.įor servers there is also Bukkit, which is not technically not a 'mod loader' instead it is a 'plugin loader'. The procedure for installing mods on the client is basically the same, install Forge and drop the mods in the 'mods' directory.įor client side mod management I highly recommend: However, most mods require that they are installed both server and client side. Running that in your server's directory should install the mod loader, now you can just drop the mods you want to install in the 'mods' directory of your server. Java -jar forge-(version_number)-installer.jar -installServer I haven't done this for a server myself, but from what I understand it is as easy as: To install minecraft mods you'll need the Forge mod loader: That depends on what you mean by 'graphical mods' My daughter is playing minecraft so i installed minecraft-server from portage and like to know if it is possible to add graphical mods to it.
